>>> The legacy that never ceased <<<

February 13th, 2008

I was smiling proudly when I read this post by Kagesenshi. Never thought that somebody younger and so called junior is brave enough to take such drastic action. Way to go!!

For my UTP friends, or all of you who still or was belong to the name UTP, read this first to understand what am I talking about. Its really admiring – the bravery and the guts it takes for someone so “little” to do that. It takes creativity – to do something different than the others.

Are you dare to do that?

I bet you don’t. After all, we are always bound to the serenity of security that the world offers, right? Who in his or her right mind wanted to risk something so big (read: scholarship, kicked out of school? bitterly being commented by trolls?) just to bring up issues in the name of justice and human development?

I am not totally agree with all his points, yet some of it still make me smirking happily – of how right he is to mention these points. I agree with his points that:

  • The younger generations are dull; lack of interest to try to make a change, lack of interest to voice their opinions. In other word – takde kote. Not challenging at all.
  • The younger generations are harder to be friends and to be mixed with. In other word – an ass. They think theirs are whiter.
  • The younger generations are not doing stuff they love – they wanted the accreditation so much that they sacrifice their souls to do something “useless”

I observe that this is goddamn true in my final semester. And I observe that this is still goddamn true now. Me myself has lost interest to enter UTPChat anymore. It got nothing. You can enter the room just to find nicknames lying idly – not even a word (be it educative or gibberish) being uttered in the rooms that once so full of glory.

Reading that open letter reminisce me to the way we operates back then. Classes were canceled? The whole bunch of itisjan03 knows it in a glimpse of an eye. The notification bells will be rang to let everybody knows – “keting keting keting!“.

- Notice #itisjan03 – Today class is cancelled.

Got a deadline tomorrow? Assignments that need to be submitted? /topic #itisjan03, /q ReDzuCan or vadder85 or cocomo, and type “Eh enol / zulbo / kamal, ko da siap assignment tu? Send!” and the notification bells will be rang again – “keting keting keting!”

DCC Send of assignmentX.doc Completed.

Got a presentation tomorrow and slides yet to be completed? /q [[aMin]], /q S|3ngErs, /q GoMoK, and type “Weh malam ni kumpul kat bilik gomok, wat presentation slide utk subject A, pastu bole lepak mamak.

Feeling lonely? Type “Mat, jom mamak!” and somebody will surely reply you. Even though the intended person is not there, but still.. it will happened this way (well, at least it was on my time):

[re-arrange]: Mat, jom mamak! Mok, jom!
code^breaker: Kirim!
[re-arrange]: …..

And who can forget the legacy of Grapevine once upon a time? From Gundam action figures, to bikes, to love, to even arts. How loud we was back in the day – who can forget the sarcastic but idealistic Genjo, the emotional English “Old Man from the Mountain” Effi, or even the passionate story teller Snubby? (just to name a few..)

*sigh* The memory remains..

Anyway, back to the core business. I am sure there are also the black side of it; every coins has two sides of faces. Yes, both of the medium was abused greatly. For fun, for fuck sake (and I mean that directly, not literally). I won’t deny the temptation.

Yet, its mind over matters. Its the art of perception. Check here in this link to understand more about the art of perception; I won’t repeat what has been written.

As a conclusion; I am glad that I am born earlier that I got to feel the fun of it. At least it makes me survived the real world. At least I know better about the real face of the world. And at least I don’t need to be spoon-fed in order to outlive everyone.

Not like what I’ve seen now – the products of UTP who cannot even survived the internship without being spoon-fed. This happened to the extent that I am ashamed to admit that he/she is my junior of the same university. Oh let’s keep that for another post, shall we?

If I still got the burning spirit to write about it laa kan.. :P

>>> Kiap!! Kiap!! <<<

February 10th, 2008
This picture is the current ads that I have in this blog. Read on..

I just got back from my hometown in Muar when I read this email from Nuffnang:

Hi, Mohd Nor Sallehin bin Sallehuddin,

Congratulations!
An advertiser has chosen to advertise on [re-arrange].
The advertisement details are as follows:

Campaign:
Hong Leong FEB Campaign Week 1 SS

Week(s):
1. 10 Feb 2008 to 16 Feb 2008

Ad Unit:
Skyscraper (Top)

Have you ever noticed that I’ve put Nuffnang ads on my sidebar? Try to scroll down after the chatbox and you will see the skyscraper advertisement from Nuffnang. Today, Hong Leong wanted to put their ads there – hoho!

The ads is actually about – “Kiap-kiap” contest that currently being held by Hong Leong Bank. So, if you have Hong Leong bank account, you can pay your bills online and try to play their “Kiap-kiap” game to see if you can get lucky!

If you don’t have Hong Leong’s account, no worry. Go release your tension by playing “Kiap-kiap” for free. Its actually a game of catching flies using chopstick. Cool! I like the flash animation. I’d have to say, this game is very, very suitable to be played in the office while you’re bored waiting for the clock’s to strike 5 (or 6, or 8 for me).

Below is the screenshot of me trying to play “Kiap-Kiap” :

Damn! Not that easy, really!

And below is the highest score that I can get. LOL.

*sweat*

Oh well, c’mon guys! Let’s play the game and compare the result! Let me know your result in the comments please! Tee hee hee~

Anyway, to access it, please click at the ads on the right sidebar, below the chatbox. No worries, your click doesn’t mean anything I guess if you don’t have Hong Leong accounts (thus, unable to participate in the contest == no profit for me). So, its not for my own profit – if you speculating that I “force” you to click that ads to gain pocket money. Duh!!~

I never get anything from the ads anyway.

>>> Valentine's Early Promotion <<<

January 27th, 2008
First, congrats to Estranged for winning AJL 2007 that was held just now. It’s a sweet performance, even though I thought that the sounds are quite.. sinking. Blame the sound technical people, for not being able to put the sound up to par for a stadium event.

Anyway, nothing happened for this weekend, so I spend my lazy bum ass being a potato couch in front of the black dumb box (u know, telly?). This is when I found out that the Valentine’s day celebration has started already, where most advertisement were promoting their products, or events, or even ringtones.

It shouldn’t be any of my concern, right, since I am now single? Truly, I am not even afflicted for that. I think I am more afflicted by reading Dil’s post about so-called “Snapshots”.

But this article from The Stars really catched my eyes – entitled “A Night To Remember”, discussing about blind dates. Read here for the online version. It is actually a promotion for “Table for Two” where they want to find candidates for this year.

My first thought was – “Interesting.. maybe I can also try to be a candidate. After all, I just need to send an email answering three questions, and I might be the lucky participant and get a chance to know some chicks… hmmm…. sounds great…”

Hey hey.. what’s wrong with me going on a blind date? Now stop giggling.

Anyway… my dream’s bubble explodes in another second…. (T_T). These word broke my heart – “To be selected for the matchmaking adventure, you must be old;">an UNDERGRADUATE aged between 18 and 25, and have the means to get to Hotel Nikko“.

Damn. Now I realized that I am no longer young to be called undergraduate. Maybe I’ll end up like the image below on Valentine’s Day.

I hope not.

P/s: For those who’s undergraduate between 18-25, you can try to get this Valentine’s gift by submitting an email to educate.star@gmail.com with your full name, I/C #, address, cellphone #, and recent pic of you. Oh and answers for those three silly questions as well. Go read this article.
