OMG! Someone was googling my real name!

LOL. I think I can point it out. Someone from MMU was googling me to know who I am. I am supposed to give a talk on a seminar entitled “Introduction to ZendCore“. For your information – ZendCore is a company who has been bought by IBM because of the capability of its software to integrate DB2 with PHP.

Ehe.. sorry.. not a lengchai maa!!

More or less, its actually a PHP library and a web server package. Only that it completes with the framework needed to work with DB2 database.

Come to my shock, the Academic Initiative in MMU is really active due to its IT Society. Wow! I am greatly impressed. MMU successes in uniting its IT students into one community!

Now I wonder why UTP don’t have that. Can the UTP FOSS team work to unite the students? A challenge for you, Yondie and Kage!

Knowing UTP in and out giving me a sad feeling – people there seems not to acknowledge the power of knowledge (hmm.. that rhymes). I salute the efforts taken by Kage to write an open letter to the Rector, yet – no actions were taken. Nothing happened.

Such an ignorance. UTP has been too much in a comfort zone that the students being pampered too much on academic achievement that it creates a dull Jack and Jane. And even my efforts of bringing Academic Initiative to UTP is hard. I wrote emailold;">s with no response.

Emails to the lecturers and yet the lecturers keep thinking about how to achieve their KPI! Ignoring my emails!! Is PETRONAS doesn’t have something called “Value Add” ?? (This was a confession by the mere lecturers. Really. “Push it to the Programme Head, Sallehin. Else, the lecturers won’t do anything because its not in their KPI“winking

No offense to the worker of PETRONAS, anyway..

For now, I am still trying my best to reach them to get involved in IBM Academic Initiative. It just pathetic to see their students going to internship but not equipped with enough knowledge or skills. Sometimes, not even the right attitude too!

You think you can survive by being spoonfed ka?

*sigh*

Enough with the rantings. Wish me luck in these two things:

Presenting in MMU this coming Thursday
Bringing IBM Academic Initiative in UTP

P/s: Yondie, want to try IBM DB2 Express-C replacing your MySQL? winking Try installing it in Ubuntu or Fedora. Let me know your feedback. It’s free, so it’s still FOSS (okay, its FS. Not really OS in the middle tongue)

I can’t help but bursting into a devilish laugh when I saw this image in my email this morning. Seriously, this is one good meme! Bless you Yoda for making my day!

Anyway, this post is not meant to offend any mamak out there – without all of you, we won’t get to satisfy our craving for “teh tarik” and “roti bom” – so, I still appreciate their existence in our country here.

Actually there’s a story that lies behind this meme – This happened somewhere in January at Lotus mamak restaurant near KLCC. It was an unofficial gathering of former Grapeviners – we haven’t met each other that much, so we planned to have a little get together to update our stories in life.

I arrived a little late then the others due to my work schedule in late shift (12PM to 8 PM) – so, I went there directly after work without changing clothes or having my dinner yet (yeah, its a get together at mamak stall, so why bother to have dinner first, right?)

When I arrived, everybody was already there. Yoda aka Unta, Muner the Bear, Anon the Kewl, Pak Lah (who went all the way from UTP just because it was bored there – padan muka hang Pak Lah, sapa suh hang balik awal sgt! tongue), Dueng aka Mangi, Zye (who went all the way from Seremban – wow), Sue aka Celesta, Syuk aka blaser, and Laila aka Seren.

So I was the last person there – and I ordered my meal. One of our habit – when somebody ordered something and it look delicious, everybody wanted to order the same thing. And another one; we always add our food listing later (which seems pretty standard I guess – everybody wanted to have second meal later on, correct?)

Now, can you expect that the mamak scolded us for that?

Mamak: Dey, nak order, order betul betul la. This is serious business, okay? Sini tempat business, bukan main – main. Orang mau makan, bukan mau main – main.
Me: Betul la ni. Apa plak order main – main. I baru sampai, sampai lambat. Apa I tak boleh order ka?
Mamak: This is serious business! Saya datang, u order. Nanti saya datang, ada order lagi. Sini tempat business, bukan main – main. This is serious business!
Me: WTF?

We were all dumbfounded and lose our appetite back then. Nobody wanted to argue about it anyway – we were all hungry and don’t have enough energy to fight back. We ended up finishing everything, and even though we still hangout for more than two hours later – we didn’t order additional meal even though I believe everyone can use a second round. Not our lose, anyway.

Ini bukan main – main. This is serious business!!

Up till today, that jokes still lingers around. LOL.

My previous post has been quite heavy and attracted a lot of comments, so let’s deviate to something lighter, okay? As the topic above, today I would like to give you the Emmy Award for the best actor and actress.

The nominee is only one movie, with its popular quotes: “I deny that he/she is my boyfriend/girlfriend. I will let you know later when the times comes.” What else but the movie: Drama King and Queen!
