Meme: 30 Days of Book (Day 2)

Here comes the second installment of the meme “30 Days of Book”! tongue

Okay, the question for today is:

Book(s) that you’ve read more than 3 times.

Well, the original question was “A book that you’ve read more than three times”, but I changed the question a bit since I have more than one book that I’ve read more than 3 times, and usually it’s a series of book. There are a couple of book series that I have and I usually read those books more than once, from the first book to the last.

But yes, I think I read this series more than 3 times:

Percy Jackson and The Olympians Series

I found out about this book from its movie, which is quite rare since I always read book first and then watch the movie adaptation (which, in many case, I always been disappointed with the movie).

The movie is entertaining and I was laughing the first time I saw Grover. laughing

Being enticed, I bought the book one by one and read and reread up until more than three times; I think I managed to read it four times. Since it is a series of children’s book, I can finish from book one to five in one day sitting. The vocabulary is not that hard anyway.

The biggest reason why I read this book series more than once? I tried to check out the real Greek myths and which one is being adapted. So I did a lot of wiki and reading this book at the same time. It’s just, I don’t like to read and then go to my computer to check out the Wiki, so I always read the book – finished it – Wiki it – reread it to check if I missed any explanation of any myths. tongue

Oh well, this book series is already popular, (and I heard there will be a sixth book going to be completed this year) and the reference link can be found at: http://www.percyjacksonbooks.com/

Meme: 30 Days of Book (Day 1)

So Dils thought that doing meme for books will spark the blogging mood that seems evaporated over times. Yeah sure, I don’t have anything much to share or write in the blog anyway. Life has been pretty dull and boring without any drama. Same old, same old.

The meme will go for 30 days; and one question (about books) will need to be answered every day. On a second thought, I think I might do several posts on one day, and then scheduled it to be posted on different days. LOL! tongue

Here’s the question for day 1:

Best book you read last year

Now here’s a problem; I can’t really remembered the date I bought a book, or when did I read it. I always buy, and then read it later. Same problem with Dils. Solution? I’ll just estimate… I think I read this book last year… tongue

My answer: The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti

Yeah found the exact cover via Google Image

It’s a story about a twelve-year-old Ren, who is missing his left hand and abandoned as an infant at Saint Anthony’s orphanage. One day a young man named Benjamin Nab appears and claiming to be his long-lost brother; and he takes him away on a strange journey entangled with grave-robbers, thieves, and murderers.

I think it’s one of the best book I’ve read since it has a distinct description on how bizarre an environment can be, and how a small child is expected to make a decision that will determined his future life. Enough twist, enough love, simple vocabulary, mindfucked. The revelation of the kids parentage did shocked me.

So it’s good enough for me to nominate it as one of the best book I’ve ever read last year.

Oh and I found out the writer website’s, in case anyone wanted to read more summary or anything about the books. here’s the link: http://hannahtinti.com/the-good-thief/
