>>> Weird, Awkward, Strange Questions <<<

Have you ever felt that your day is weird enough that people keep asking you strange questions it makes you feel really awkward?

Sometimes it is kind of funny to see how people can blatantly ask questions to you.

Today is my “lucky” day to get all that shits right in front of my face. Even though it makes my day (it’s funny for me), but still I feel a little awkward.

********************************************

It starts at work, while we had a break in the middle of presentations, when suddenly..

Nicole: You like tudung girl one or not wearing one?
Me: (stunned) .. (wtf?) .. (…) Now I think I don’t mind wearing or not meh.. maybe previously I tend to choose those with tudung one… (awkward)

Gee. Weird questions. At a strange time. From an unexpected person (Nicole is my work collegue in the office – a Chinese friendly young lady, but not one that really close to the extend I can expect that kind of a question).

Innocent question, but in the middle of presentation where the team were presenting the plan?? That really caught me off guard. And as expected, gibberish answers la kan! Awkward. And funny. I try not to make weird facial expression, but I guess I failed.

********************************************

Here’s another one. Out of the blue, one of my friend who hasn’t contacted me quite a while, phoned. We were really close sometime back at university, but this one question also caught me off guard. To protect privacy, I put here as K. Here’s how the conversations went..

Me: Hello..
K: Hello mate. I got a question for you. Let’s say, you’re in this situation: “Some anonymous girl messaged you, and you get acquainted for the day. Several hours later, she message you and ask for a phonesex.” What will you do?
Me: (stunned) .. (wtf?) .. (…) Go shag that girl la!

And then we laughed and conversations goes on with another thing. But really, wtf? What kind of question is that?? LOL. And that question was really serious. I am not kidding.

********************************************

Curiosity kills the cat. In this case, it kills me because I laughed my ass off in the end of the day. Not only that, read this, and then this. OMG OMG OMG I am rolling to death!

But, I think I’ve been too ignorant and selfish, up to the extent that it has taken the best of me. Why?

Because all my expression towards that kind of question, is like this picture below (taken from Kenny Sia).

LOL.

First, congrats to Estranged for winning AJL 2007 that was held just now. It’s a sweet performance, even though I thought that the sounds are quite.. sinking. Blame the sound technical people, for not being able to put the sound up to par for a stadium event.

Anyway, nothing happened for this weekend, so I spend my lazy bum ass being a potato couch in front of the black dumb box (u know, telly?). This is when I found out that the Valentine’s day celebration has started already, where most advertisement were promoting their products, or events, or even ringtones.

It shouldn’t be any of my concern, right, since I am now single? Truly, I am not even afflicted for that. I think I am more afflicted by reading Dil’s post about so-called “Snapshots”.

But this article from The Stars really catched my eyes – entitled “A Night To Remember”, discussing about blind dates. Read here for the online version. It is actually a promotion for “Table for Two” where they want to find candidates for this year.

Picture taken from: http://www.wrightforyou.com/table42a.jpg

My first thought was – “Interesting.. maybe I can also try to be a candidate. After all, I just need to send an email answering three questions, and I might be the lucky participant and get a chance to know some chicks… hmmm…. sounds great…”

Hey hey.. what’s wrong with me going on a blind date? Now stop giggling.

Anyway… my dream’s bubble explodes in another second…. (T_T). These word broke my heart – “To be selected for the matchmaking adventure, you must be old;">an UNDERGRADUATE aged between 18 and 25, and have the means to get to Hotel Nikko“.

Damn. Now I realized that I am no longer young to be called undergraduate. Maybe I’ll end up like the image below on Valentine’s Day.

I hope not.

P/s: For those who’s undergraduate between 18-25, you can try to get this Valentine’s gift by submitting an email to educate.star@gmail.com with your full name, I/C #, address, cellphone #, and recent pic of you. Oh and answers for those three silly questions as well. Go read this article.

>>> Books == Nerd == Geek ??? <<<

The two latest books that I’ve read..
Remember my 2008′s resolutions? One of it is to read 6 “novels”, however, I haven’t got a chance to buy any. So these two books above is the only crunch that I can get to satisfy my thirst, for now. Both of it is my brother’s (lucky me to have a brother who just finish his SPM and now laying bored at home, so he’s stocking up on books and that’s a big chance that I won’t miss!).

Btw, I won’t count these two as “novels” – I define novels as something much more thicker and have issues / story lines associated with it. Those are books. Good books – I admit, but I want something “heavier” to read.

Anyway, I am interested to put up a post about the common misconception of people towards those who read, so, I am sorry if you think I want to do reviews for any of the books stated. I got to let this out of my system after reading Shah’s post and people comment’s on it.

Btw Shah, Hazel, and friends, its not that I am angry or upset or whatever, but its just a clarification for the wronged definition, so don’t take it seriously whatsoever, okay? happy

Click here and here for both Wikipedia entry on Nerd and Geek – so I don’t need to go text book mode on what the meaning of those words.

Comparing both of the type – nerd is more general term but geek is more specific to technology, computer, software, hardware – that kind of stuff. It’s the similarity between them that always gets the wrong perception from public; loves to read. That’s where the discrimination comes. old;">Why oh why those who love books or loves to read need to be discriminated?

I respect both type of people. Nerd or geek, both of it have something that I don’t. I am not good with academic stuff. I am not really tech-savvy too. Maybe I do know a little here and there about technology (since that’s what I study anyway) but, to be put as a geek? I haven’t reach that “expert” level yet.

Sometimes people call these kind of level as “loser” and “those who have no life”. I see them who says that as someone who’s low-life. The quality of the nerds and geeks are far beyond your recognition; with all the knowledges that they have – they utilize their brain and mind, and that kind of life is far better than those “low-lifers“. Given the choice, I’d go with the life of a nerd/geek.

I love books. I have life. I socialize. I am ashamed to be call geek or nerd – not because I disrespect them, but I don’t earn and deserves it. I idolized those who achieved that level, and I respected them with the utmost rights they deserve.

So people, stop intimidating those who you call nerds / geeks. These are the kinds of people we need for our reference. These are the kinds of people who lead the educations. These are the kinds of people that we need to increase the intellectuality of the publics.

Nerds / geeks apart, anybody who loves books are not geeks or nerds. That is nothing comparable – it’s like comparing an egg to an apple. Don’t be afraid to read. Instead, you should love reading. And by that, I don’t mean specific books. Read whatever materials that you love. Read whatever books that you love – be it the romantic useless shits, crime and mind boggling mysteries, religious views, or fictitious stories. Or even blogs.

The main point here is to read. Increase your awareness of reading – because the level of reading among Malaysian is just too terrible. Not only that, they’re ashame of reading? Bullshit.

I dedicate the below poem, plagiarized and translated from some song, for you to be proud of who you are, bookworms!! (gee, the Hudson syndrome really got to me tongue)

Aku tak perlu menjadi selain dari,
Anak seorang jaga penjara.
Aku tak perlu menjadi selain dari,
Anak seorang pakar.

Aku penat melihat sekeliling bilik,

Kerak penciptaan,
Situasiku dibuat dari tanah liat dan batu,
Dan kini aku beritahu setiap orang!

P/s: Can anybody guess what song is this actually? No gifts given for the lucky “guess-er” btw tongue
