Crappy Week, Crappy Template

March 1st, 2008 by [re-arrange] 5 comments »

This week is not the best week for me. Just a list down on what have been happening:

  • The workload has been increasing like crazy again
  • The AI team suddenly asked me to do presentation for the students (again, last minute)
  • There was a meeting in the morning. And I hate it.
  • I was supposed to take DB2 certification (Test 731) on Thursday
  • I even sleep early for that purpose – 2 days in a row
  • But suddenly it got postponed due to technical reason
  • So, whatever, I got to take it on Friday
  • I’ve lost my enthusiasm by then
  • I failed that test by 1% – passing score is 59%, I got 58%. Which makes it a miss by a question.
  • I try to retake that test again, thinking it will be the same set.
  • Unfortunately it is not the same set. And failed it again.
  • I spend my weekend trying to change the blog template.
  • And it becomes crappy. It seems that my blog – never have a purpose to be written.

Whatever. I guess the leap year makes the luck leap over me too for the day.

Informative:

1) Do you know that in Gmail, you can set your incoming mail to be archived right away? And your mail can be labeled as to rearrange your mails in inbox?

Check the Settings > Filters as well as Settings > Label. Credits to Yondie for telling me this. big grin

p/s: My email is always cluttered, make it Gmail or Lotus Notes. I guess I am not that keen of cleaning it up anyway.

2) Do you know that Pacmee‘s competitor is Twitter? You can post shoutout by using both of it, but Yondie has “poisoned” me to use Twitter. Not bad – can send your shoutout from web and SMS. But the looks of it kinda sucks though.

Ahh… need some space for myself.

>>> Tag games and links. <<<

I was being tagged by Dils and I am bored; so she’s lucky I participate. Usually I don’t give a damn. I started not to play tag due to the work load that seems never stopped. So here goes:

The Linking Tag Rules

1. List out five favourite links – the links can be of business sites, affiliate links or whatever that suits the blogger.
2. Tag five more people to share their links, so hopefully, at the end of the tag, we would be able to share good links with each other.
3. The links MUST be clean. No X-rated sites.
4. List out only FIVE links.
5. You MUST tell FIVE people you choose.
6. Provide the link back to the person who tagged you.
7. Obviously, it should be an active link.

My 5 favourite links:

1) My Gmail. You know why? because that’s where the spam list lies! I always start my day there to see what the hell the boys (and girl) spamming. In each day, you can get at least 60 emails per day! Don’t believe it? See picture below:

Luckily its on my Gmail, so no mail space problems! big grin Anyway, even though most of the times we talked rubbish, but there are times where Mangi or Yoda or anybody will share information from various websites. Sometimes Wiki, mostly Japanese stuff, or 4chan image board.

Feeling moody at the start of your day? Read those spam! I always end up with a chuckle or a laugh – where then people will start throwing awkward look at me.

2) If I am at work, then the sites where I always visit frequently is the IBM InfoCenter – mostly for DB2, or, if I am the queue monitor where I need to entertain those chatters, it will be InfoCenter for other products as well. Part of the job.

3) Also part of the job, I will go to IBM DeveloperWorks to read those technical articles – either as part of skills development, or requirement to answer the question. Again, part of the job.

4) At home? I got those RSS feed blog bookmarks! Every blogs that I love to read will be bookmark with the RSS. There are a lot, so I just post a piccie for you to take a peek.

Okay okay! Some of you might say that I don’t post links. These are some of the links here (selected randomly):

Opps! Now I’ve posted more than 5! LOL. And its not even the full list of bookmarked blog! And the list is always growing! Double LOL.

You see, I just love reading people blog’s. Especially my friends, or people I know. So, I don’t have preferences. Blog hopping is just a hobby, and I don’t have a niche or one focus interest. I can and I do read everything. LOL. Talking about stalkers, I maybe one of it! tongue

5) Social bookmarking sites. I used Nuffnang, Feedburners, Technorati, and BlogExplosion as my social bookmarking sites. There are others too but I rarely visit it – Digg as an example.

From there, I can see who links to me or from where the visitors come to my blog. So, I ended up clicking here and there to see each person blog’s or links. So I gain a lot of other links and I crawl to all the places I can.

Else, I will just type random words into Google and see where it brings me. LOL.

There are some other links as well; Youtube and Metacafe as instances. But heck, I already posted more than 5. LOL.

I hope Blogger won’t block me anymore like before. This is not a spam list, okay Blogger, its just a stupid link game. Huhu!

5 people to tag.

Hmmm… this is kinda hard. Random selection below:

1) Mia
2) Chunna
3) Chadsz
4) Huda
5) Mangi

That’s it. Is it useful? LOL.

Credits to Yoda – for creating (??) and distributing this. LOL.
I can’t help but bursting into a devilish laugh when I saw this image in my email this morning. Seriously, this is one good meme! Bless you Yoda for making my day!

Anyway, this post is not meant to offend any mamak out there – without all of you, we won’t get to satisfy our craving for “teh tarik” and “roti bom” – so, I still appreciate their existence in our country here.

Actually there’s a story that lies behind this meme – This happened somewhere in January at Lotus mamak restaurant near KLCC. It was an unofficial gathering of former Grapeviners – we haven’t met each other that much, so we planned to have a little get together to update our stories in life.

I arrived a little late then the others due to my work schedule in late shift (12PM to 8 PM) – so, I went there directly after work without changing clothes or having my dinner yet (yeah, its a get together at mamak stall, so why bother to have dinner first, right?)

When I arrived, everybody was already there. Yoda aka Unta, Muner the Bear, Anon the Kewl, Pak Lah (who went all the way from UTP just because it was bored there – padan muka hang Pak Lah, sapa suh hang balik awal sgt! tongue), Dueng aka Mangi, Zye (who went all the way from Seremban – wow), Sue aka Celesta, Syuk aka blaser, and Laila aka Seren.

So I was the last person there – and I ordered my meal. One of our habit – when somebody ordered something and it look delicious, everybody wanted to order the same thing. And another one; we always add our food listing later (which seems pretty standard I guess – everybody wanted to have second meal later on, correct?)

Now, can you expect that the mamak scolded us for that?

Mamak: Dey, nak order, order betul betul la. This is serious business, okay? Sini tempat business, bukan main – main. Orang mau makan, bukan mau main – main.
Me: Betul la ni. Apa plak order main – main. I baru sampai, sampai lambat. Apa I tak boleh order ka?
Mamak: This is serious business! Saya datang, u order. Nanti saya datang, ada order lagi. Sini tempat business, bukan main – main. This is serious business!
Me: WTF?

We were all dumbfounded and lose our appetite back then. Nobody wanted to argue about it anyway – we were all hungry and don’t have enough energy to fight back. We ended up finishing everything, and even though we still hangout for more than two hours later – we didn’t order additional meal even though I believe everyone can use a second round. Not our lose, anyway.

Ini bukan main – main. This is serious business!!

Up till today, that jokes still lingers around. LOL.
