It’s Ramadhan again. The month of fasting for the Muslim. The month of repentance, the month of blessing, the month of holy.
And yet being one of those who fast among those who do not possess its own challenges. In my office, I am quite lucky being the only one who smokes in my team. Else I’ll be tempted whenever I smell the unscrupulous ingenious poisonous smell.
Lucky me for not being tempted by the smell of coffees. Can you stand seeing bunch of folks drinking icy cold coffees in the middle of a hot afternoon?
Or can you stand the sounds of slurping from a big glass of coke behind you?
Here’s another big one: Can you stand when a hot girl offers you a cup of icy cold Milo, one that she happened to take extra on her way from the pantry?
Hehehehe
Being in a multinational and multicultural company, I guess that’s what you need to be ready for..
Other than that, maybe you can answer some of the questions posed by thy? Here’s some of the famous question that has been thrown to me…
1) For how long do you have to fast? You can smoke, right? Isn’t it abstinence from eating and drinking?
This is the most famous questions being asked. And the standard answer is: I need to fast starting from the sunrise till sunset. And no, I can’t smoke. I can’t have anything going into my porous part of my body.
2) Oh.. if that’s the case, you can’t breathe then?
*Shit, a wrong choice of word* No, that’s a natural entrance which I can’t help it, so.. that’s not count. I still need to breathe.
Kinda bad joke, but that’s a truth too
3) If you need to fast in the morning, then the people who work at night is at advantages then? Its better to work at night, go home in the morning, and fasting while sleeping?
I don’t know how to answer this, really. All I can say is the nature of normal human works in the morning, and sleep at night - not the other way around.
Oh, me? I am abnormal anyway
4) What’s the difference of Jewish fasting and Muslim fasting? The Jewish doesn’t eat first (read: sahur) before they fast, aren’t they?
Honestly, I don’t know. T_T
Interesting questions, eh?

owh man, sux to be u kene tempted ngn mcm2.. nsb baik im not u, coz ill be crazy haf to face wif ppl slurping coffee everyday coz i am sooo addicted to coffee!!
hahaha. its interesting questions.. but yet one that makes u wonder at the same time
haha. my level of coffee addiction depends on the smokes, so if I am not smoking, the coffee addiction goes down
for someone yang tahun lepas for 3 weeks have to work night during bulan puasa, it is actually easier and nicer. Malam macam biasa. Pagi balik, tdo… then dah nak dkt time buka dah.
Tapi yg tak best satu je la. Takleh buka pose dgn org2 lain. Eat a lil bit, then kena cepat2 gi keje.
Jewish is different. I am not too sure, I think ade yang puasa from Friday to Sunday, but from food je kut. Not water. Tapi not too sure la.
If we care to ask, banyak jugak religion yang ade fasting, Hindu selalu jugak. Buddha pon, where I learnt there is 1 day that they have to eat only vegetables. No meat. That is a kind of fasting jugak.
huhu..
Hmm..
Bukan ke tak boleh tidur melebihi 1/3 masa dari terbit matahari hingga terbenam matahari ke?
dils: that part which cannot bukak pose dgn org lain tu yg sakit tu. oh well, i’ve used to be alone anyway
bout religion fasting tuh, a lot of religion ask for fasting. a quick wiki throws up this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasting
oh well, there’s a lot of foreigners in my workplace, so I am lucky to have this kinda chat with them
Genjo: serious? dem. aku tatau part tu. mengapa ye?
hehehe..menguji kesabaran n tahap keimanan ko!
aku ok je, semua kat dept aku yg non-muslims tu memahami jer kami sedang berpuasa n konsep puasa (malaysians) secara kasar lah. tapi xyah la gi pantry, sah2 dpt denga semua bunyi yg tak patot (slurrrpppp~) dan bau2an yang tidak mahu kau bau (bau wangi mknn)
Re-Arrange:
Maka, di mana konsep “menahan lapar dahaga” (or, menahan ‘nafsu’) jika ia bukannya ‘dikawal’, tetapi sebaliknya, di”shut down” terus?
Tetapi itu hanya pendapat-pendapat warung kopi saja. Kesahihannya kena dipastikan sendiri dengan merujuk mereka yang lebih arif.
Nad: hehe. non-muslims tempat aku memahami.. tapi dah terbiasa.. cannot do anything gak lah. at least when they realized they apologize
but still its a temptation. damn..
Genjo: I see.. That’s a logical answer.. hmm.. interesting.
for me, it’s just food. really..it’s just food.
just ignore it, you’ll do just fine. and jgn la tenung botol tu lama2 sgt, nanti betul2 datang nafsu. just take it as you’re full and could no longer eat. mind over matters.
