I open my Facebook account and found out that I have a friend request from my mom. Guess what’s my first reaction when I saw that?
I went ape nuts and – “OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT!”. ![]()
I can’t deny that today’s trends are for mothers and/or fathers to get into Facebook and adding their sons and daughters. I can’t deny that by reading newspaper people already heard about Facebook and how those kinda ads gives publicity to Facebook and how it can attracts even your neighbours to add you. I think the Gen X wanted to learn how Gen Y operates or something.
But having mom to add me into my Facebook account makes me sweat. Reasons? I swear a lot in Facebook. I curse a lot in Facebook. I even dropped comments that is vulgar in its nature everywhere. That’s why I am hesitant to add my mommeh.
Tell me, how many of you add your mom into your Facebook profile? I don’t even add my boss into my Facebook — and even my current work collegues are not added (I do give exception to the one who has left their job.)
Reason: Being a Gen Y, my alter ego is on the web. I don’t want to be judged by the alter ego I shown on the web. I believe ignorance is bliss in some cases.
So mom, if you do read this — that’s why I click the Ignore button when I saw your profiles requesting me to be friends. Not now, maybe. Later if I think my alter ego is useless, I may add you. When? I don’t know.
LOL.
P/s: Seriously, who taught my mom to open the Facebook account? I think I wanna shoot that person. Damn it!
P/s 2: Proof reading my post again, I realize that my grammar are taking a downside slope. Shit. I really really really need to start reading and writing again — vigorously.

your mom will be ‘proud’ if she found this blog too.. ehehe..
hahahaha. i won’t mind. the blog has the title alter ego
I did approve my mum tho. It was scary at first but she’s ok with all the cursing and swearing and all the topless guys haha.
it gets better when we started to gossip about ‘things’. overrated pictures, controversy wallposts, comments, and whatnots. cool!
but i didnt aprov my boss and nosy colleagues. colleagues yang byk cekadak ckp potpet sume sori!
but yeah it is even scarier when she found my blog. ‘Tuan Puteri? Sape Tuan Puteri?’ Shivering grr grr grr.
LOL. well lucky you your parents are okay and sporting
hehe. my dad also have fb account early this year (OMG!), and ktorang adik beradik pakat jgn add ayah sbb once sorang add nnt dia mesti kena add yg lain. luckily dia tak tau sgt nak org lain selain accept approve dr kwn2 dia..yii~ =D
sy tak tau cmna kalau dia nmpk how ‘mesra’ i am with him in the picture… =P
hehehehe. how ‘mesra’ eh?
my dad has facebook, tp we decided not to add each other. my dad said “u do what u must in facebook.” lol. haha. tp some of my aunts added me in my facebook, tp aku masukkan derang dalam group with the highest level of privacy… maksudnye tak leh komen kt wall aku, tak leh tgk aku update status, tgk photo album, and so on. ha ha.
but then again, i rarely use facebook nowadays, sbb aku rase mcm facebook telah jadi myspace. ape pendapat ko? keke
LOL.
Facebook dah jadik mcm myspace? A bit I think, but I think users can still control it. Not so bad compared with MySpace kot. Kot. Might blog about that later.
wowness! luckily my momma doesn’t have much time to google around the net to register for a facebook account! HAHA
i guess it’s the influence from surrounding that makes them joining fb.
i beg to differ if mom suddenly pop-up and request me to be her friend
you don’t have any cuss and swearing in FB — if your account is clean.. why not?
Not my case though. HAHAHA
lebih kurang 20% daripada my friends adalah my parents, siblings, makcik, pakcik sedara sepupu sepapat. oh kawan parents aku pun ada (yang aku boleh bawak borak la)
aku tau diorg pun aware segala update fb aku walaupun diorg x cakap. especially parents aku. tapi aku x kisah pun sebab diorg takkan masuk campur social life aku.
btw. add fb x se’horror’ berbanding mak kau baca inbox phone kau
inbox phone? That’s a big no-no. LOL
i strongly object family members adding each other. that’s the worst taboo for social networking beside adding your superior.
i only have my sister be friend with me. i have nothing much to hide with her but there are still area that I not feel at ease to share with her. other than that, i think she could handle my craziness and all sort of swearing.
mom and dad? let just say my mom having difficulties to maneuver around phone, if she get to FB…it will be the D-Day. same goes to my dad. so, i’m quite lucky in this department.
i have to agree that the alter ego on internets is the salvation for our generation. if that’s gone too…then nothing much left for us. am exaggerating a bit though.
hehe. like your exaggeration though
my dad already tried to add me a few times now, memula aku ignore but after that the request keep on coming last2 aku letak ayah aku on the block list. so, he can’t even search for me in the facebook pon. keji x?
“ayah, hani dah delete facebook… malas nak jaga.” <– ayat dh pk awal2 in case die tanye kenape x jumpe facebook aku dh. heheh…
i added my brothers dalam fb, memula agak awkward bile tengok they cuss and such.. but, lpstu tarik nafas and said.. i acted worse than them when i was their age. but i dont think parents can think the same when they saw our cuss, rebellion and etc
agreed.
