I’m just gonna copy Jamie’s style of writing for now; at least for this post.
1) Not Enough Time..
Damn I don’t know where my times go, but it seems that my daily routine are getting mundane. Go to work in the morning, go back at nights, grab a couple of stuffs to eat, call her/message her, and then watch The Nanny or CSI or whatever between AXN or HMK channel until I asleep. Repeat that for 7 days, and the only part I love doing is calling / messaging her.
I love my job now. Financial wise, still not bad; challenge wise, still not bad – there’s a whole lot of challenges when you’re assigned to two different departments with two responsibilities and two different (but interconnected) goals. But the need to spend more time to work? That’s bothering me. It makes me burning faster.
And not to say all the pending stuffs or goals that I still need to do before end of the year.
Simply put, I love the technical part of the job, but some day I feel that some of the people in the office can wear you out.
2) Broken things…
I thought I started off this week with good charm. It’s all so good until the evening; I found out that the rear glass of my car has shattered! This is the second time I had it; the first one was last year. Seems like the golfer at the driving range like to smash their balls to people’s car huh? Fucker.
So had it reported to 1U, fix it, and still waiting for compensation.
The next morning, another things broken. And it’s my work laptop! I can’t boot into the Windows and it gives me the BSOD with error message – unmountable boot volume. Hell it was damn okay yesterday what? Suddenly the hardisk corrupted? Fuck.
Sent it to Helpdesk, they replace it, and succesfully salvage some data from the old hardisk. Salvation rate was 90%; I lost only my installer and Windows customization that I’ve done. All the documents, reports, notes, references, Redbooks, mp3 and some videos are still survived. So…..
3) Conversion..
I decided to convert to using Linux. Since now I have a blank computer (with only basic stuffs installed), I decided that it’s the best time to run on Linux. After all, the hard disk corrupted because of Windows. So why not?
Installed Linux Mints and it worked like charm. I like all the multimedia part and stuff, and all programs looks okay to me. But then when I try to make it compliant with IBM environment (need to install Open Client – all the firewalls, Lotus Notes, etc..), it gives me hell. Linux Mints are based from Ubuntu, but it seems IBM didn’t really put 100% compatibility support for Mints (Notes can’t be installed, and the dependencies package was going into cyclic) even though it does support Ubuntu.
So I did some research, and decided to give Fedora a try. IBM support Linux and put ranks on its important; Redhat was the first, followed by Fedora, OpenSuse, Ubuntu and Debian. Download the full-fledge IBM certified Fedora 11, installed it, and walla! I’m running on Linux now!
Now my IBM laptop is called Lucifer; running on Leonidas! (geez pardon the geek talk
). Waiting for Constantine to be fully supported with IBM environment and I’m gonna upgrade then (Lucifer residing in Constantine sounds cooler than Leonidas
).
And no, it’s not dual boot. It’s 100% fully Linux. Yay! Next to do; implement PHP, learn Python and Java, and then learn Jython, and implement that as well.
4) House
I bought a house at Desa Coalfields, Sg. Buloh. Double-storey, 4 rooms 4 bathroom, intermediate unit with 266k price tags. Signed the S&P. Waiting for loans to be approved. Expected completion date around March 2011, might be faster.
Yay! Next – buy a car, and get married. Blessed me God.
(P/s: Sayang, Swift tu tunggu I jadik manager or Senior IT Specialist oke?
)
5) Parenting and whatnot…
Unexpectedly, it was my father who feels left out / sulking because I do not consult him on purchasing the property. I was expecting my mom to feel that way, but surprisingly she was supporting my decision to go independent. Oh well, we can never understands parents before we become one I guess. And talking about parenting, I guess Effi’s post is better.
Pfft! No comment about that.
6) Why I write like this.
I know I can write longer, but again, the time constraint – refer #1. If you read this post thoroughly, I’m sure you can find whole lot of grammar errors (and might be some typo), and it might sounds like I’m too rush to write. Yes, I am rushing. It’s 3AM now.
I am busy and I got a whole lot of stuffs to write. This “all-in-one” can be put as six different posts for god sake and I know I can write better with some lulz if I’m in a better mood. And the worst part is when you’re busy, it seems that there’s too much ideas coming in.. but you can’t get the time to write it! Fuck.
I planned to write about books I’ve finished, I planned to write about successes as a reply to Genjo’s post, I planned to write a reply about Effi’s parenting post, and I even planned to write a review for Papadom movie; where I BAW and laugh at the same time. But?
Geez I need more skills in time management.
