>>> Of Contract versus Permanent <<<

Simple update and simple dillema for this post -

Good news first: I got a job back at IBM. IT Specialist – Information Management, under IBM Virtual Innovation Center. Not my old business unit back in internship, though, but still in the same department, which mean I will be seeing the same ol faces again.

Not so bad news then: I didn’t get the chance to negotiate a higher salary. Kinda regret putting only RM2300, because they just accepted it. How if I put higher, say, RM2500 or RM2600? :P RM2300 when deducted for EPF SOCSO and all that stuff, I ended up RM2000 only. cis.

ya.. aku materialistik.. :P

Kinda bad news for me at least: This job is contract. That is actually not a problem or bad news. The bad news is my documents are delayed by the agency (you know, when you are hired for contract, you will be passed to an agency to run all your offer letter and contract and stuff). Grr! I suppose to start by next Monday on 2/7, but got delayed instead to 4/7. Ok thats not a bad news I guess. :P But I hate to get my offer delayed.

Jangan tetibe dia cancel.. mmg aku bom IBM.

Dillema: The job is contract. That is the dillema. Not that I have anything against contract worker or whatsnot, but, quoting my dad.. “Bape lama nak jadik contract?”, “Korg ni da jadik mcm barang dagangan laa plak, kene anta2 agency ni agency tu..”

Now people, what’s your opinion on being contract or permanent? How do you feel if you are being a contract worker? What’s your plan if you being a contract worker?

Because seriously.. I’m quite blur about it.

congrats for getting a place at your internship company! happy

i guess rm2300 is an average payment for fresh graduates nowadays, ryte? happy

but im quite blur with the contract stuff. sebab boyfren kakak aku, dia contract jugak, and the agency yg hire dia untuk keje kat company dia tuh, ade juga ambil some of his payment. is that what u mean? heee big grin

if that’s the case, perhaps kene bersabar, sebelum dapat keje laen. it’s better to earn rm2300, than zero. agree wif me? happy

thanx chunna! hehee.. (abes la aku kene pau lps ni tongue)

urm.. yerp u r right. 2.3k is average for fresh grad. but why not going for higher? and I didn’t get that chance to go for it. sungguh ciss.

urm.. about agency taking payment, its not the problem. that depends to the agency actually, and my agency doesn’t do that to me (for now, and as for the contract agreed).

the thing that I want to discuss act, is the view of contract worker versus permanent. I have such a traditional dad, that he hates a lot of contract worker that he even ask me to not stop looking for another job instead of working hard and try to gain permanent access there. uhh.. kene edit nih..

i believe theres a pro n con for everything in life. as for this matter, look ate the pro.

my cousin work on a contract basis for i think 5 yrs now. he has been to many many countries even Japan. and to date he made almost 1500 pound sterling per day. EHEM.

because bile keje kontrek neh, all you got to do is maintain your performance. then as people recommend you, your price will go higher.

one day, i wanna work on contract basis too. ^_^

    salam..(hahah nak komen gak)
    1st-congrats sbb dah dpt keje
2nd-dont worry psl contract tu..sbb mmg most of manufacturing companies nowadays pun mmg amik workers on contract basis, except several other posts like engineers, (experience) managers, etc.bagi aku advantage keje contract is ko bleh dpt experience sementara pk ko suitable tak for the job, abis kontrak bleh pi cari keje lain yg lebih best(kalo tak sesuai lah).haha tp yg penting kalo ko happy n nak stay di situ,ko kna outshine n perform well, pastu ko sure akan direcommend jadik permanent.i’m talking based on my observation @my company mase intern dulu.berlambak contract workers.huhu all the best=P

mia: 1500 pound sterling? whoa! (how much is that when converted to RM? $_$)

shah: tq for da congrats. and good view too. that was my observation too back in my internship, that’s why i don’t mind being one. im just trying to reason with my dad, but he’s just disagree with me on dat. so just wanna try a different view winking

    thx for dropping by too!
