I’m feeling very outdated tonight.
Bought that and read a couple of chapters with a grin. Nice book I’d say. Then I go online for my daily doze of bloghopping and mail reading as well as chatting with some of my friends.
Only then I found out that Lydia has already published her third book, and “Life’s Like That” is her second! So I missed out Malaysian’s good novelist two masterpieces already!
To add to my disappointment, I only know, at this moment, that Lydia is holding a contest to celebrate her 10K sellouts of “Honk! If You’re Malaysian”. Now what else did I missed?? Feeling really bad for my own ignorance T_T (Thanks to Dils who happened to submit a post about this!)
Talking about the contest, it’s easy enough to participate. Whoever dropped her a comment at this link will have a chance to win a voucher for MPH old;">or McDonald’s! Tag line: “Feed Your Soul or Feed Your Stomach”. Nice tag line! (Mind the or btw, you greedy!
)
And if you want to have two chance to win, then write an entry linking back to her about this contest. Which is what I’m trying to do, currently.. (hee hee..)
If I win, I’d go for the MPH voucher! A feed for the stomach may last a couple of hours, but a feed for the soul will last forever..
(I bet if Munir enter this competition, he will be longing for the McDonald’s voucher! Haha you bear, you cannot fool me
)
P/s: Lydia, if you read this, can you teach me how to publish a book?
It’s been my fantasy to write a book and publish it, and gain the money while preaching a story!

Honk! If You’re Malaysian is a very good ‘guide’ book. As if it is Malaysian 101 subject text book. I’ve been eying it for a long time to the dismay of not having my own dollars and cents to get it. It stayed in the top 10 best sales for quite a long time since last year (if not mistaken)
Since last year??? OMG now I’ve missed real lot!
Maybe its my ignorance, maybe its my double standard of malaysian author, but surely I appreciate a jewel when I see one!
Now now.. if I bought this book, will I have enough money for the month? hmm hmm..
maybe one of the reasons i don’t fancy myself to west based books: there are a lot of good local or asian books yet I couldn’t find myself reading them.
purchasing books does contribute to tax payment reduction kan kan kan?
ngeee.. not sure bout that. but now you’re saying that, shit I just throw the receipt again! T_T
Hi, thanks for posting about the contest. It’s not 10K copies sold yet, but in print. Hopefully all will be sold by year-end
Double chance for you.
I have some posts on my blog about writing. If you do a search, you’ll get to them.
hah the lady herself! wow!
i havent got a chance to read this as well. hey im no reader, but for considering to read this book, it must be something.
seryesly. been going a few times to MPH n kinokuniya but end up coming out wif no HONK! in my hands!
now, blame the scholarship! haha!
lydia: thanks for the double chance!
i’ll do a search for it when I got the time. thanks for the guide and the comment!
mia: haha! blame the scholarship or your appetite for spending RM1000 shopping? you shopaholic!
hahaha. i tend to read thinner book nowadays. i have very little gap of attention span. i already see lydia book but yet to give it a chance. the era of me reading thick book already end.
btw, did you buy the book i recommended? it’s around 200+ pages only, indeed a thin book. i already buy Mitch latest book: For One More Day. owh..that’s also quite interesting.
maybe after i finish read Mitch book, i read lydia book then. is it thick btw? i hardly find time (with watching jdo, social schedule, sport schedule, bermalas-malasan schedule, working schedule). am busy man. hahaha.
hoho. to publish book, you need idea and i guess i’m not that strong in concentrating into writing book. i might be best to be columnist (short writing, lots of people reading), blogging or forumming jer. writing books required extra attention which i hardly have. hehehe.
i never have luck in any contest so i pass the contest.
Mangifera, Honk! is not thick, 286 pages only mah. And it’s easy to read too, with short short chapters of about 4 pages each.
Gee! Mangi, the recommendation from the author itself. hehe.
I’d say its true. I’m halfway of reading “Life’s Like That”, and its really, short chapters with easy English. Light reading, but many inputs
And I still doesn’t find the book that you recommended! Grr!!
Well, about publishing the book, its still my fantasy for the time being. If I got the time and all the determination needed, you’ll know bout it
hoho. sure lydia, i will buy your book. only after i finish with my therapy of my sick emotion with Mitch’s books. If i leave Mitch’s book, i won’t pick it up again. so, i guess, one by one.
sure, your book would be interesting to read. Owh..the temptation.
LOL. take your time dude. one book at a time, adeq.
hey, let me know if you ever publish your book, adeq. leh aku menyemak wat promosi jgk. hahaha.
hehe.. the temptation sure is high eh? Now thats what I say “Hanya permata yang mengenal manikam” (err.. wonder if that’s right?)
Yeah yeah, I am taking my time. Time never takes me! lol.
Sure, if I ever.. publish a book. LOL.
Quite a fantasy to be fulfilled.. *pray*
Finally..a reason for me to buy a new book..I always buy books based on recommendations. Here are some worth for your readings:
1) Catcher in a rye (J.D Salinger) – you will find a LOT of phony in this book=p
2) I am a muslim (Dina Zaman) – I think this is an interesting point of view from a woman in search of true meaning in being a muslim in Malaysia
Btw, good luck in your ambition to become a writer. You sure have the Potential=D
Haha. I don’t do review so much, so my recommendations always based on other recommendations too!
Warghh! another 2 recommendation. adeih2~
thx aween! its still not a real ambition, just, fantasy?
but thanks for believing in me!
